If you are having difficulties sending email from one of our
products, you should verify your email program is properly
configured. Our software routes your messages through Windows
MAPI interface to the application that is defined as the
"default" for email. To help you properly configure your
system, here are some basic instructions for several popular
email programs:
Note: Your email client may not always bring the new
email message window to the front. If nothing appears to
happen when you click a send email button, check your email
program to see if a new message was started.
Outlook Express 5 and 6
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Options".
- Click the General Tab.
- Click the button marked "Make Default" (near the bottom
of the dialog). If this button is greyed out, Outlook
Express is already configured as the default.
Outlook Express 4
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Options".
- Click the General tab.
- Check the box labeled "Make Outlook Express my default
mail program".
- Check the box labeled "Make Outlook Express my default
Simple MAPI client".
- Click OK.
Outlook
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Options".
- Click the "Other" tab.
- Check the box labeled "Make Outlook the default program
for Email, Contacts, and Calendar".
- Click OK.
Thunderbird 3
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Options".
- Click the "Advanced" group.
- Click the "General" tab.
- Check the box labeled "Always check to see if
Thunderbird is the default mail client on startup".
- Click the button labeled "Check Now"
- Click OK.
AOL 9
- Sign on to AOL.
- Click the "Settings" icon in the toolbar.
- Click the A-Z tab.
- Click the "AOL as Default" link.
- Click OK.
AOL 7 and 8
- Sign on to AOL.
- Click the "Keyword" button.
- Type the word "Preferences" in the text box of the
Keyword dialog.
- Click the Go button.
- Click on the Association link.
- Select "America Online".
- Click OK.
AOL 6 and earlier
These versions of AOL are not MAPI compliant and will not
work with our software.
If you are unable to open the program documentation, or
cannot connect to web sites from our software, you may need
to configure your browser so it is the default for HTM
files:
Internet Explorer 8
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Internet Options".
- Click the "Programs" tab.
- Click the "Make Default" button.
- Check the box labeled "Tell me if Internet Explorer is
not the default browser".
- Click OK.
Firefox 3
- Click "Tools" in the menu bar.
- Select "Options".
- Click the "Advanced" group.
- Click the "General" tab.
- In System Defaults, check the box labeled "Always check
to see if Firefox is the default browser on startup".
- Click the "Check Now" button.
- Click the "OK" button.
